After visiting the opening of the Kunstenfestivaldesarts and the Short Film Festival in Brussels in May we´ve been to Germany for Florian Nitsch´s exhibition opening at House of Modern Art in Staufen and the opening of Manifesta11 in Zurich.
The trip was a great experience. What people do for money is this year´s Manifesta´s theme. Multiple artistic practices are on display not only in official art institutions but also off the beaten track - at least at Manifesta´s satellite projects which I appreciated a lot. It still seems to be quite hard for curators as well as artists to explicitly engage the community, collaborate and go into dialogues outside the non-vulnerable and hardly accessible cultural hubs. My personal favorite was the cooperation of Palais de Tokyo and ACBRUSH AG.
